We have given the whole page a proper restyling, especially the look and feel of the maps, which are now animated and much easier to read and use. Today, February 17, we are honoring our friend Adriano in the best possible way: climbing at the Scalodromo. Our thoughts also go to all alpine guides and mountaineers who lost their lives in the mountains; in this time of year, when avalanches are more frequent than in other seasons, we ask everyone to experience the mountains with the greatest possible attention and awareness, always relying on the highest level of experience and safety available. We miss Adriano every single day, but at the Scalodromo his presence is still alive in every bolt, every hold, every sip of “coffee” climbed along the panoramic ledge above Positano. VISIT THE MAPS IN THE AMALFI COAST > POSITANO SECTION OR CLICK HERE

Ninth anniversary
Nine years ago we lost Adriano Trombetta: alpine guide, friend, and the mind and heart behind many vertical projects from Piedmont to Campania.

We owe him hundreds of routes, from the cracks of Valle Orco to the sea cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, where he brought his unique, eccentric, generous and curious way of living the mountains.

In 2013, together with Fabio “Aziz” Salerno, Adriano imagined and bolted the Scalodromo sector in Positano: a long panoramic ledge, mid– to low–grade routes, names inspired by Neapolitan coffee culture and their Piedmontese roots – a piece of home transplanted far away, overlooking the sea of Campania. maps \\ scalodromo

Their work made this crag accessible to everyone, and today it is a reference point for anyone who wants to climb in a spectacular yet inclusive environment, where you can grow step by step, pitch after pitch.

In 2017, the same year Adriano passed away, a rockfall followed by a wildfire hit the sector hard, making the trail and the base of the routes increasingly fragile and hazardous.

At the end of 2025 we returned to that ledge: slope stabilization, trail cleared from brambles and debris, rebolting and restyling of the routes, a new via ferrata for the approach and at the base, all to restore Scalodromo’s dignity and safety without betraying its original spirit.

Today the Scalodromo is once again fully climbable and ready to welcome all those who want to discover Positano in a vertical way, with respect for the environment and for the work of those who believed in this place from the very beginning.

With this post we gather and centralize all the latest information about climbing in Positano on the Direzione Verticale maps, so that Adriano’s story continues to be told with every new ascent: direzioneverticale.it/mappe.

For anyone who chooses to tie into these routes, we ask just one thing: take care of them, just as Adriano took care of the people and the walls he loved.
